The Council holds the highest power

LAUREAMKO’s Council of Representatives is the student union’s highest decision-making body. In other words, they make decisions regarding the union’s action plan and budgets – i.e. what services we are to offer and how we will pay for them. The Council also sets the membership fee.

Fifteen members are elected for the Council annually. They are ordinary Laurea students who want to participate in influencing matters related to studies and the union. Each Council is in office for a calendar year. Its members are elected through specific elections. All ordinary student union members who have paid their membership fees by the due date are eligible to vote.

It is worth standing for the Council. In terms of time, being a representative is not too demanding: the Council has three ordinary meetings per year, in addition to extraordinary meetings arranged when necessary. The rewards, on the other hand, are manifold: new friends, fun times together and the valuable experience of running meetings and union activities.

All members of the student union are entitled to participate in Council meetings, where they can be granted the right to address attendees. It is worth participating in meetings. For details of meeting times and venues, check the calendar on our website.
