2. LAUREAMKO is searching for international placement practitioner for autumn 2010

Want to have credit points and international work practise? LAUREAMKO placement offers a good opportunity for a real inside into organisational work with students. All tasks are planned to give the student a view and real practise on planning, organising, executing, observing, developing and participating in international activities of a youth organisation. Work language during placement is English, so this job is suitable for any international student in Laurea (whether Finnish or foreign origin).

Tasks during the placement are Assisting the international secretary and international Rep. of LAUREAMKO, Being part of Orientation programme of international students, Organising events, Developing international tutoring and activities of the Student Union, Developing materials (student materials, web pages, news bulletin), Participating in organisations office work. 3. Studies during summer

Did you not get a summer job? Helsinki Metropolitan Area Summer University has a diverse course offering during the summer for open polytechnic education, language courses, open academic teaching, and other interesting courses, including art and IT. 4. Recycling spot at LAUREAMKO Leppävaara

Good stuff for free, for example glass, cups, pots, blankets, pillows, bedsheets, towels. Open when Leppävaara office is open. Welcome!

5. Women’s /Girls’ Ten 30.5.2010

Naisten Kymppi is Finland’s biggest sporting event for women with 18 000 female runners, joggers and walkers of all ages. In this sport event everyone can participate on her own terms and run, jog or walk at her own pace, no matter what age or how fit you are. Naisten Kymppi is not a competition, everyone entering the finish line is a winner! The distance of the course is about ten kilometres and along the course you are able to appreciate beautiful Helsinki scenery and colourful entertainment with bands and other performers. 6. Tikkurila’s bar crawl

Last year’s super popular Tikkurila bar crawl comes again! Tuesday 11.5. Tikkurila will explode when the rally begins. The journey will be long, so you should remember to keep yourself hydrated at all stops. So come and join a happy group to go around all the bars in Tikkurila. The start is at Tikkurila next to the school at 5pm. Afterparty at Night Hotel Vantaa 10pm. Also all those who couldn’t participate during the day can come to the afterparty. Tickets can be purchased in advance from any LAUREAMKOs offices or division booths. Tickets in advance 3€ for members, 5€ non-members and on the spot 5€ for all (please book even money). 7. LAUREAMKO has restructured

The Council of representatives had their annual spring meeting on 14th of April and decided to change formerly known divisions to LAUREAMKO’s local units. Local actors, whom are chosen annually, represents local units. Local actor period lasts one year.

8. Traditional Olympics 12.5.2010

Easygoing sports at Leppävaara sports stadion with other students. Events like boot throwing, mölkky, running in bag etc. Event starts at 14.00 but you can join us when ever you want. Event is free.

9. Chocolate tasting @ Fazer 17.6

LAUREAMKO wants to scratch the itch in your sweet tooth! The student union organizes a free visit to Fazer’s factory in Vantaa 17.6. at 13.00 (duration 1.5h). Registrations by e-mail to tapahtumat (at) laureamko.fi. There are limited amount of places available so those who sign up the fastest gets to join up. The tour will be in Finnish! Registration is binding.

10. LOB 16.-18.5.2010 - Can You Handle It?

Traditional LOB-cruise awaits you and your buddies. We’ll be traveling from Helsinki to Stockholm as usual, but other than that nothing else will be usual nor common. Come spend a crazily funny amazing cruise with other students. Great program for both days with honestly and seriously good prices! If you book through LOB you’ll get a bag full of necessary and unneccesary things inside it! (lob-controlband, handprogram, overallbadge, some stuff, salty and tasty etc.)

11. Join the board of LAUREAMKO as the representative of international affairs

There is a place open in LAUREAMKO’s board as an international representative! The tasks includes international tutor trainings, planning and executing international students orientation program, organizing trips and everyday work in the board. 12. Summerparty @ Kaivohuone 12.5

LAUREAMKO is celebrating the end of the school year together with HELGA, METKA and ASK in Kaivohuone 12th of May! Awesome party with loads of students! You can even meet your own summer-girl or -boy in speeddating ;) Tickets in advance from LAUREAMKO offices to members 2e, others 3e. From the bar 4e. After this is time enjoy the summer!

13. Hang-out evening

Students’ non-alcoholic evening for hanging out together with board games, fabric painting (pring your own shirt, cloth bag, etc.), coffee and tea. Come along alone or together! Place: Laurea Otaniemi, Metsänpojankuja 3, Espoo. Time: Friday 21.5.2010 at 17-21.
