The Fresher’s Event came and went! The event was a successful one both outside and inside in Onnela.

The best team was rewarded with awesome prices! Thanks for all the people who took part in it! The top 3 teams of this winter’s Fresher’s Event:

Hey hey hey! So now again it’s the time of the year when LAUREAMKO organizes the trips to Lapland and St. Petersburg in collaboration with Time Travels. The trips are open for everybody BUT of course the price is cheaper if you are a member of our student union!

 

The Lapland trip is from 22nd till 28th of March and the prices start from 275eur.

St. Petersburg trip is from 21st till 25th of April and the prices start from 185eur.

Book your trip fast so you won’t be left outside alone!

 

 

The application period for international tutoring begins shortly so keep your eyes and ears open! You now have the possibility to join the most awesome group you could ever find and help the new international students coming to our university from all over the world and make new aqcuintances. Still a few places left to THE Floorball tournament! The tournament is in Myllypuro on 10.3 between 8 am and 4 pm. Team fee is 28€ /team.

It’s time to find out who is the champion in good old board games! LAUREAMKO Tikkurila organizes board game event on 3rd of March 4 pm in student’s living room in Tikkurila’s local unit (3rd floor). We will play many different games and will find out who’s the champion in Kimble. Come with your friends to play board games and enjoy our new living room! Little snacks will be served.

 

 

Student Union is seeking general secretary for maternity leave and also chief editor for Student Journal called Laakeri. Fluent Finnish skills are required for the positions.

The student representative for the Board of Laurea University of Applied Sciences holds the highest representative place in Laurea’s working groups. The Boards task is given by law (351/2003) and Laurea’s Board makes decisions on degree programme principles, the main directions for educational development and student selection criteria, provides instructions for the practices required to maintain pedagogical consistency at Laurea, and makes proposals to the Board of the maintaining organisations regarding fixed-term strategy implementation plans taking into account the integration of the three tasks (action plan and financial plan proposals). The task for the Board of Examiners is to solve any argument matters concerning the students grades in studies. The student member qualifications for the position are excellent knowledge of Laurea grading system and understanding of different study programme’s requirements. All universities of applied sciences comprise a statutory Financial Aid Committee. The Committee issues statements for Kela Centre for Student Financial Aid on whether the studies are full-time or part-time and on study progress. This information is used by Kela in evaluating students’ eligibility for financial aid.

The Financial Aid Committee together with Kela are responsible for the annual monitoring of study pro-gress. In addition, the Committee processes financial aid applications for summer studies.

 

The Financial Committee meets about once a month in Laurea Tikkurila. For the student member position, guidance of rules and regulations is available and since there are altogether 4 student members in the Committee, no one needs to act alone representing the Laurea student matters. The atmosphere in the meetings is very open and conversational. The time period for member position is 2 years.

 

In the meeting of LAUREAMKOs Council of Representatives 17.2., 1 deputy member for the Financial Aid Committee will be elected. In their spring meeting 12.4., the Council selects completely new ordinary members and their deputy members for the 2-year position that starts in summer. LAUREAMKOs Council of Representatives selects the student members on their additional meeting on 17.2. and lets the selected ones know about the decision on the next day.

Tikkurila: mon-tue 9:00-13:00, wed-thu 12:00-16:00.

Leppävaara: tue 9:00-13:00, wed-thu 12:00-16:00.
