1. Hang-out evening
Students’ non-alcoholic evening for hanging out together with board games.Come along alone or together! Place: Metka Cafe, Tukholmankatu 10, 1st floor,Helsinki. Time: Friday 12.2.2010 at 18-21.
2. Hey you new student
Freshers event, the biggest event for all new students, starts on Wednesday 10th of February 5pm at Narikkatori in Helsinki. You’ll be in for small assignments around the center of Helsinki and all sorts of fun activity with your own group and tutors. So gather up your starting group and arrive with your tutors to Narikkatori. For more information turn to your tutors or send email to: tutor (at) laureamko.fi.
3. Freshers event afterparty February 10th
The most important event for Freshmen should have the most awesome afterparty of the year, right? And it does! February 10th is the date to bring your bones to the newest bar in Helsinki, Simonkadun herkku! (awesome name, it used to be Armas) Tickets in advance from LAUREAMKO’s offices (starting week 4) 4 euros, from door 5 euros. 300 first overalls will get an overall badge! So 10.2.2010, Simonkadun herkku, Simonkatu 8, starting at 9 pm. Everyone will be there!
4. Design a mascot for LAUREAMKO
LAUREAMKO will renew their website during this spring and one of the design renovations is to design a LAUREAMKO mascot. Your help is needed for this! The mascot will not only decorate the website but also represent LAUREAMKO in posters and different kinds of events. Theme for the mascot is not restricted. So be creative and design your own version. The best mascot will be rewarded. You can send your designs to: tiedotus (at) laureamko.fi

The search for new international tutors will start soon. All who wish to apply should keep an eye out for more information from our bulletins and website www.laureamko.fi
7. Harassment Contact Persons
LAUREAMKOs’ harassment contact persons are Mari Kononen and Antti Korpela. You can turn to harassment contact person when you feel that you have been subjected to harassment or molestation. Harassment contact person will guide you to the right kind of assistance and supports you. Things will be taken forward only with partys’ permission. 8. Culture with student prices
You have a chance to see two dance acts that have been succesful around the world in one night at Eastern Helsinkis’ Culture Center Stoa in February. Compañia Kaari Martin and Susanna Leinonen Company brings to the dais acts Kerro minulle sade and Chines Objects that both entwine to a strong union of dance and music.

9. Valentine festivals 12.2.2010
Valentine festivals start on the 12th of February at 7 pm in The Cirkus (Salomonkatu 1-3, Narinkkatori, Kamppi), at the heart of Helsinki. Pete Parkkonen, Aamupojat, Hollowheart and the Norwegian Malice In Wonderland will be performing in the hottest party of February. The festival will be hosted by magician Jori A. Kopponen. There will be loads of familiar faces from publicity and incredible festival spirit!

10. Find your own story
Group is meant for 20 to 29 year olds who experience melancholy, fatigue, loneliness, anxiety, or nervousness and want to come to the confidential group to reflect on the life situation with others of the same age. The participants discuss in peer groups current issues, such as mood, shyness, loneliness, social nervousness, study / work pressures and means to support wellbeing. Participants hopes are taken into account in the content of the group. The group is free of charge to participants.
Group starts: 15.3.2010 and meets on Mondays from 18.00 to 20.00, 10 + 1 times.
Meeting place: At Tapuli seurakuntakoti near Puistola’s train station.

11. LAUREAMKO has a new General Secretary
LAUREAMKO has selected a new General Secretary to replace the previous General Secretary Maria Häggman who moved on to new assignments. Terhi Peltonen, a 26-year-old Bachelor of Business Administration and Education Science Graduate from Turku was selected from the application process. The new General Secretary has worked previously at Turku School of Economics Student Union as a political secretary and is well acquainted with the student’s current issues. With the new work, domicile will also change to a metropolitan area.
General Secretary is in charge of running the student unions daily activities. The job description includes serving members about issues that concern them, taking care of the unions financial and administrative management and working as boards secretary. General Secretary is also the staffs superior. She works alongside with the board as a representative of the student union and as a contact person to Laurea, affiliates and other interest groups.
