1. Presenting LAUREAMKOs board
Student union LAUREAMKOs board welcomes all new Laureas students. The board of the student union is in charge of carrying out the work to protect students interest and of implementing the services offered by the student union, such as events, trips, fitness opportuneties and tutoring. The members of the board for the year 2010 are:

Timo Sormunen, guidance and working life
Mari Kononen, social politics
Arttu-Pekka Hautala, educational politics

The board consists entirely of ordinary Laurea students. Each member is responsible of one area of operation or sector. Board members are happy to provide information on the student union’s activities, so please feel free to send questions or feedback by email. New office opening hours from the beginning of year 2010:
Tikkurila mon-thu 10:00-15:00, fri 10:00-12.30
Leppävaara wed-thu 12:00-16:00, fri 9:00-13:00
Otaniemi wed klo 12:00-16:00
3. Tikkurilas bookstore offers discount
Tikkurilan Kirjakauppa (bookstore) offers inexpensive purchases when you show your studentcard. Discounts between 10% - 17%.
4. Super cheap movie tickets!
Tikkurilas movie theater Bio Grand, only a short walk away from the railway station, offers quite a deal: By showing your student card you get all the movies (3D included) for only 7,5€. Now if ever one should use their student card.
5. The first party of the year
How to start a new year? With a party, right? The year’s first party is on 27th of January at Fever. The biggest party for the new students is on 10th of February and everyone is of course welcome to the after party. Mark the dates to your calendar and keep an eye out for the bulletin.
