The Boards weekend seminar

The Boards weekend seminar

LAUREAMKO's board spent a weekend at Karjalohja on 15 - 17.10.2010 discussing and planning next year's activities. After settling in, members of the board went through recent activities and the conclusion of the previous week. We also talked about next week's program . Since it was kinda late, we went thru a brief conversation about designing new overall badges before closing the day.  The first days program ended at ten after which the board spent free time enjoying sauna and talking in a relaxed atmosphere.

In the morning at 8am everyone gathered around at the table again to discuss the issues  concerning LAUREAMKO. On Saturday we went through LAUREAMKO quality manual, adding important information and altering the disadvantages. The quality manual contains information about LAUREAMKO activities and it is important for the next year for the new board and it's orientation. After the first session food was prepared and eaten together. Afterwards, the board went through the 2011 Action Plan and the grievances was modified as necessary. Every member of the board had already made their initial action plans for their  sector before coming to the seminar. The pre-work helpe to identify next year's needs and opportunities and thereby making the action plan as a good and workable as possible. During the review of the action plan we talked about possible improvement opportunities, reforms and changes and also about how this year has been successful and what would be a good to change. The Board also discussed the gathering of new membership benefits and potential new partners to help LAUREAMKO offer members even better benefits. The last part of the afternoon was going through the 2011 budget.

On Sunday morning, the board discussed the future of SAMOK and its future president, vice-president and the board. LAUREAMKO will interview candidates for SAMOK's President 2011 together with other metropolitan area student unions on Friday, 22.10. There are currently four Chairman candidates. After the SAMOK discussion the issues turned back to LAUREAMKO's internal affairs: planning the training and orientation of the new Council of Representative and local units. The purpose of the training is to increase the active students awareness of LAUREAMKO and SAMOK. By training the local units, LAUREAMKO seeks make them more effective and to increase the possibility of local units to develop their own activities even better. The last part of the seminar was a board meeting in which the board discussed the  issues and ideas that had come up during the weekend. After the meeting, the board cleaned the cottage and drove thru the countryside back home.
