Pre-fresmens event @ Leppävaara
The pre-freshmen's event for Leppävaaras new students was held on Wednesday 9.9. The new students circumvented the area around Leppävaara's campus (led by the brave tutors) and completed tasks. The point was to get to know the area and improve the groups team spirit. This year there were seven different tasks and they were organized by a large number of this and last year's tutors.
The event started at the schools front doors at 16.00 and there were a total of 14 groups from different schoolings (4 business, 2 info.tech., 1 safety, 3 hotel and restaurant, 2 services, 1 degree and 1 international).
The tasks consisted of lots of different roles e.g. singing, dancing and listening. In addition to the fun and getting to know people, the groups competed against each other. The groups were given points from 0 to 100 at each task depending on how well they performed. Thus, the maximum number of points should be 700, but the groups had the opportunity to earn additional points at each task by different means. This year's absolute winner was group 1 from Service Management. The team had over 900 points so they really got the hang of bribing. Due to the amazing score, the group won free tickets to the after party as well as fame and glory in Leppävaara.
All groups finished the tasks in 4.5 hours and were then ready to head to the after party. The venue for the after party was Back to School - party at Tivoli in Helsinki, which was organized by LAUREAMKO. The party continued until the wee hours, which also reflected in the next day at school. According to teachers' the attendance rate was 50-100%.
The event was very successful and gained much praise. Everyone also enjoyed the after party and the going was ruff, rugged and raw . There's a good couple of weeks to recover from the fatigue caused by the pre-freshmen's event before all the freshmen and tutors head towards Helsinki for the actual huge event for all Laurea's new students.
