On the 23rd of September, LAUREAMKO will blow your mind!

New students, freshmen, little ones, great people have great many names! The tutors have kept the new students entertained and on their toes for few weeks now: they’ve gotten acquainted with their unit and classmates in the pre-freshmen’s event, applied for a student card a.k.a. membership and the Back to school party didn’t leave anyone cold, at least not the girls, thanks to the cadets. The new academic year has started but something is missing. Well not for long!
LAUREMKO has lots of traditions but the most visible and perhaps most important is to arrange the freshmen’s event twice a year. One might even say that Laurea students are true-Laurea students only after they have successfully participated and completed the freshmen’s event. The point is not to embarrass or hurt physically/mentally the freshmen, but rather to welcome them in the crazyfun-laurea group! The group responsible for arranging the freshmen’s event is of course tutors, who of course everyone knows like their own family. In the event, tutor led groups of students will adventure around the center of Helsinki, completing tasks. Midst of the spectacular tasks new students will also be get to know all of Laurea's units, because tutors from each of them has organized its own task. Laurea internationalism hasn’t been forgotten at the event, there's also a task arranged by international tutors.
Many may wonder what is the point of adults going to cause congestion and making the passersbys laugh, but hey come on! Study time should be digging into books but also fun, and half of it is making nice friends as well as an insane class spirit. The idea of the event is to raise the Laurea spirit, spend a nice day together and, above all, to make new friends. The next day you'll realize that you've befriended people from other campuses and that your abdominal muscles ache from laughing.
The freshmen's event is held on Thursday, 23.9, and involves all new students from each of Laurea's campuses. The fun starts at 3pm at Kaisaniemi park, where groups led by tutors go into the unknown. After the tasks it is highly recommended to get something to eat because the day doesn't end there. The official after party held in Fever starts at 9pm and there will be more than just the freshmen. So get ready to boogie down! Tickets will be sold in advance for 5€ at LAUREAMKO offices and local units, as well as LAUREAMKO On The Road events. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for 8€.
So how should one prepare for the event? All you need is crazy team spirit and adventurous mind. LAUREAMKO purple overalls work perfectly as the getup for the event. You can buy them at our offices but you can participate without the overalls as well :). To distinguish themselves the groups may, for example, gear up acording to a theme. There is also a rumor going on that an overall badge would be available from the event for the fastest.
For more information turn to your tutors. Remember to keep an open mind and I'll see you at the event!
